Mikron is the largest semiconductor company in Russia and East Europe’s largest semiconductor vendor by export volume. Russian technological leader Mikron is a part of industrial RTI-holding with financial corporation “Sistema” as the major shareholder. 
Founded in 1964 as “Research Institute for Molecular Electronics” and manufacturing facility “Mikron”, the company laid the foundation for the microelectronics industry in Russia. 
Mikron is actively engaged in scientific research in the field of microelectronics, development of integrated circuits and their manufacturing and distribution. 
Mikron is a full cycle manufacturer, performing all production stages from IC design till end product delivery. 
Today Mikron is the key player of the Russian telecom and smart-card market, as well as the Europe’s largest RFID-manufacturer. 
The company is also actively working on the international market through its representative offices in Germany, US, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Shenzhen and owns an assembly facility in China. 

Mikron greatly contributes to the promotion of microelectronics in Russia, supporting a wide range of educational institutions and graduate programs, as well as providing funds for scientific research in the field of future semiconductor materials and technologies. 

The company is constantly improving its technological and production facilities, designing new semiconductor products and developing its product portfolio.  
In 2012 90 nm manufacturing line was started in collaboration with the leading international semiconductor company STMicroelectronics. The new production line significantly increased Mikron manufacturing capacity: till 36.000 8”-wafers per year.

Starting 2006 Mikron continues ongoing activities on manufacturing facilities upgrade. Within these activities with support of STMicroelectronics Mikron completed a unique technology transfer project and launched a 180 nm manufacturing line. More then 50 companies from 12 countries (M+W Zander, Air Liquid, Hager+Elsasser, Applied Materials, ASML) participated in the project to create support infrastructure for a new clean room. In 2007 a new clean room was launched into operation. 8" wafers with ICs for transport cards, smart-cards, social cards, memory and interface ICs,  and other ICs
